What All-on-4 Dental Implants Are
All-on-4 is a full-arch tooth replacement. Four titanium implants are positioned in the jaw, angled to make use of the bone you still have, and a single fixed bridge of teeth is secured onto them.
The difference from a removable denture is that nothing comes out at night and nothing rests on your gums. The difference from replacing teeth one at a time is the number of implants: a full arch replaced individually can need eight or more, while All-on-4 supports the same arch on four.
Because the implants fuse with the jawbone over the following months, they also keep stimulating the bone. That is the part a denture cannot do, and it is why bone continues to shrink under a conventional plate.
Who Is a Candidate for All-on-4 in Aurora
Most people who have lost an arch of teeth, or are about to, can be treated. The consultation exists to confirm it rather than to sell it.
When bone loss is already present
All-on-4 was designed for exactly this situation. Angling the two back implants lets them anchor into denser bone further forward, which often avoids the bone graft that traditional implant placement would have required. If a graft is genuinely needed, we will tell you before you commit to anything.
When you are still wearing a full denture
Long-term denture wearers are among the most common All-on-4 candidates. If your denture has become loose, if it has been relined more than once, or if you have stopped eating certain foods because of it, that is usually the jawbone changing shape underneath. A fixed arch removes that moving target.
You are less likely to be a candidate if you have uncontrolled gum disease or an untreated medical condition affecting healing. Both are worth a conversation rather than an assumption.

Krystal D.Google Review

Originally from Michigan, Dr. Hardenbergh has lived across the Midwest and Southeast, and is excited to make Colorado his new home. Prior to enrolling at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, he worked as an actuary. This background gives him a unique perspective and understanding of the business side of dentistry.
Dr. Hardenbergh comes from a family of dentists, with three generations of experience in the field. He is passionate about providing personalized, high quality care to all patients and is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence that Meadow Hills Dental is known for.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Hardenbergh enjoys golfing and spending time with his growing family.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hardenbergh to the Meadow Hills Dental team. We are confident that he will be a valuable asset to our practice and we look forward to introducing him to you at your next visit.

A Warm Welcome
Dr. Tom Hardenbergh and our team have designed Meadow Hills Dental to be a welcoming place. When you arrive, you will be offered coffee and bottled water. Our state-of-the-art office features Hulu and XfinityTV for your comfort and enjoyment. We are committed to providing expert dental care while maintaining the comfort and satisfaction of our patients.
Your First Visit
When you arrive for your first visit, our staff will take a new set of x-rays to aid Dr. Hardenbergh in his examination. We use digital x-rays that reduce radiation exposure by nearly 90 percent, as compared to traditional x-rays. Dr. Hardenbergh will then conduct his examination, looking for areas of tooth decay and other oral issues. Dr. Hardenbergh also practices cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics in Aurora, CO, so please let us know if there are any improvements you would like to make to your smile. Many patients are able to receive dental cleanings with our hygienist immediately following their exam.

Why an Experienced General Dentist Can Place Your Implants
Many practices refer implant patients to an oral surgeon or a periodontist, which adds a second office, a second set of fees and a longer timeline. Dr. Hardenbergh places implants here at Meadow Hills Dental, so your consultation, your surgery and your restoration all happen in the same chair with the same team.
Dr. Tom Hardenbergh earned his dental degree at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and is the third generation of dentists in his family. He worked as an actuary before dentistry, which is a large part of why this practice is unusually direct about what treatment costs.
If you already have implants placed elsewhere that are failing or uncomfortable, we also repair and replace existing implant work.
Comfort for Patients With Dental Anxiety
Full-arch treatment is exactly the kind of dentistry people put off out of fear, so it is worth saying plainly how we handle it.
Patients write about the injections more than anything else. One review calls Dr. Hardenbergh “a master of the painless Novocaine shot.” Another describes severe needle anxiety and getting through a back molar extraction, then being surprised by a follow-up call from the dentist at 7pm the same evening.
If you have had a bad experience elsewhere, you are the patient we see most often:
“I’ve had several bad dental experiences but Dr. Hardenbergh, Alondra, and all the other staff were absolutely amazing. They understood my anxiety and did everything possible to make me comfortable. Highly recommend, especially for people who have had negative experiences with dentists in the past.”
Google review, June 2025
We use gentle techniques and current equipment, we explain what is happening before it happens, and we do not lecture anyone about the state of their teeth. If you have been avoiding this for years, you will not hear about it from us. Losing teeth is common and it is not a character flaw.
All-on-4 Compared With Dentures and Single Implants
Against a full denture: All-on-4 is fixed. It does not move while you eat or speak, it needs no adhesive, and it does not sit across the roof of your mouth. It also slows the bone loss that continues under a removable denture.
Against individual implants: replacing a full arch one tooth at a time can require eight or more implants and considerably more surgery, healing time and cost. All-on-4 reaches the same result on four.
Against implant-supported dentures: an implant-retained overdenture still comes out for cleaning. It costs less than a fixed arch and suits some patients better. We will walk you through both.

Google review, February 2026“Dr. Hardenbergh is the most patient and compassionate Doc ever. I have severe syringe anxiety and he was so understanding and helped me get through a molar extraction in the far back. My procedure was done at 5pm and I was surprised he called at 7pm to follow up.”

All-on-4 Questions We Hear Most
These are the questions Aurora patients actually ask at a full-arch consultation, answered the way we answer them in the chair.
How long does All-on-4 take from start to finish?
The surgical appointment is one day, and you leave with a fixed temporary arch. The final prosthesis is fitted once the implants have integrated with the bone, which usually takes a few months.
Does All-on-4 hurt?
The placement is done under local anesthetic and you should not feel the procedure itself. Expect some soreness and swelling for several days afterward, managed with normal pain relief. Patients here consistently single out how comfortable the injections are.
Will I need a bone graft?
Often not. Angling the rear implants is specifically designed to work with reduced bone, which is one of the main reasons All-on-4 exists. Your imaging at the consultation gives the definite answer.
Can I get All-on-4 on just one arch?
Yes. Many patients treat the upper arch only, since the upper jaw tends to lose bone faster under a denture.
Does insurance or Medicaid cover All-on-4?
Coverage varies. Many plans contribute to extractions and the restorative work even where implants are excluded. We are a Colorado Medicaid and DentaQuest provider, and we check your specific benefits before treatment starts.
Is All-on-4 the same as full mouth reconstruction?
No. Full mouth reconstruction rebuilds the teeth you still have, using crowns, bridges and other restorative work across both arches. All-on-4 replaces a whole arch that is already lost or beyond saving. Some patients need one, some the other, and some a combination. If you still have most of your natural teeth, full mouth reconstruction is more likely the right conversation.
How do I clean it?
You brush it like natural teeth, with a floss threader or water flosser underneath the bridge. We show you the routine before you leave with the final arch.
How long do All-on-4 implants last?
The implants themselves are designed to be permanent. The prosthesis on top wears like anything used every day and may need refurbishing or replacing over the years.
